The link takes you to resources from Homeless Link, and they are well worth a read if you want to explore the ideas of trauma-informed services in social housing. In my view, there is value in trauma-informed approaches, with the proviso that such approaches do not become another way of labelling tenants as an ‘other’ in need of only individual-focussed treatments. So with regard to trauma-informed work, I would encourage social housing organisations to get in touch to find out more about the RHN psychologically-informed approach that seeks to target the home as a site of intervention. This compliments individual-focused trauma-based approaches that can really make a difference in helping somebody who has experienced homelessness break the cycle.
